Congratulations to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV

Your Holiness,  On behalf of the parish community of St. Jude Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, I, Father Ayub Francis Nasar, extend our heartfelt congratulations and prayerful best wishes on your election as Supreme Pontiff and Vicar of Christ.

We pray that the Holy Spirit may continue to bless you with wisdom, strength, and courage as you assume the sacred responsibility of shepherding the Universal Church. May your papacy be a time of renewal, peace, unity and deepening communion among all peoples.

We feel a special closeness to Your Holiness, formerly Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost, as you spent part of your formation in the Augustinian Seminary at the “Felt Mansion” in Holland, Michigan, not far from our own community in Grand Rapids. This local connection fills us with great joy and pride, and we cherish the bond that links our region to the heart of the Church through your life and vocation.

Your first Urbi et Orbi message was an inspiration to us all. Your words—“We have to seek together to be a missionary church. A church that builds bridges and dialogue”—resonate deeply with our parish mission. Your reminder that “God loves everyone. Evil will not prevail” brings renewed hope and courage to us during these challenging times.

We sincerely hope that you will one day have the opportunity to visit your native country, and in particular, the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to strengthen our faith and inspire the American faithful with your presence and witness. Please be assured of our filial devotion and the support of our daily prayers.
