Mission Statement
Saint Jude is a Roman Catholic Parish fulfilling its destiny by dedicating itself to the teaching and life of Jesus Christ. As followers of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit and the Eucharist, we strive to bring the Good News to all of God’s people.
Patron Saint
St. Jude, known as Thaddeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and a relative of Our Savior. St. Jude was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus. Ancient writers tell us he preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, and throughout the Middle East. St. Jude is the author of an epistle (letter) to the Churches of the East, particularly to Jewish converts. He is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in difficult circumstances. The feast of St. Jude is October 28.
Fulfilling our Destiny!
For decades we have referred to St. Jude as “a parish with a destiny.” With the Catholic Church being at a time that is important as ever, we must recognize that our parish community has the opportunity to make an impact now. Our strategic priorities will continue St. Jude Parish on this journey for the next several years. Through the empowerment of our parishioners, our many ministries, and parish staff, our mission of bringing the Good News to all of God’s people will be fulfilled. Our Church needs us. Our parish needs us. Our community needs us.
Five Strategic Priorities
Five strategic priorities have been identified through parish surveys, various council and staff meetings, and ministry listening sessions. These five strategic initiatives will help to drive impactful decision making throughout our parish.
- Outreach and Evangelization – We will actively reach out to those Catholics who have fallen away from the Church, the unchurched, and those who are in need of special care.
- Engage the Youth – We will reach the youth so as to revive our parish and the larger church through programming and collaboration.
- Nurture Parishioners’ Faith Journeys – We will help parishioners grow in faith and nurture them through the Gospel, Sacraments, and parish ministries.
- Promote a Welcoming Environment – We will welcome all those who come to our parish through being more hospitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive.
- Serve Those in Need – We will engage in active ministries of service to people in need. Our outreach will reach the local community and beyond.
