Faith Formation Classes for Public School Students are held on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7PM from September through April. Parents with children in the public school in grades 1-8 should enroll their children in the St. Jude Religious Education (Faith Formation) weekly classes. At the beginning of the school year, parents and children will be provided with a weekly calendar for the duration of classes which begin in September and end the first week of April whenever Spring Break takes place. Parents will receive at the beginning of the school year a Parent Handbook for each grade containing policies and procedures for attendance, tuition, and a calendar for each grade containing what will be taught each week and how parents can assist in the catechetical instruction of their children. A weekly newsletter will be e-mailed to all parents with children in the Sunday program or at ASA. A Parent Page will inform parents what has been taught in the classroom the previous Sunday. Preparation for the Sacraments of First Penance (Reconciliation), First Holy Communion, and Confirmation
Parent meetings for First Penance (Reconciliation), First Holy Communion and Confirmation take place during Sunday evening classes for children attending public school as well as those children from St. Jude Parish registered at All Saints Academy (ASA).
Children in grade two have the opportunity to prepare for First Penance and First Holy Communion. Parents will decide if their second grade children are ready for First Penance in grade two. If not, parents can delay reception of First Penance to grade 3 or 4. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org
All eighth graders will become candidates for reception of the sacrament of Confirmation. The Confirmation ceremony is held at the Cathedral of St. Andrew each spring from the months of March-June, depending upon the dates assigned by the Bishop’s office. Candidates will begin their preparation during the summer before entering eighth grade with a summer service project. Eighth graders are expected to write a paper on a saint and to do several service projects during their eighth grade year. A Confirmation retreat is held prior to Confirmation. Children’s Programs during the 10:30 Mass
Every Sunday morning from September through May during the 10:30 Mass, children ages 3-8 are invited to participate in the Lord’s Lambs and Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Children ages 3-6 in the Lord’s Lambs remain in the church lower level for the entire Mass. Older children who participate in the Liturgy of the Word return to Mass at the Preparation of the Gifts. Vacation Bible School

All parishioners have the opportunity to join a weekly Bible Study during the school year. Women’s Bible Study meets on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. in the Thaddeus Center. Men’s Bible Study meets on Thursday evenings from 7:15 – 8:45 p.m. in N-10 of the school.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
For those individuals seeking to join the Catholic Church a weekly program of instruction and prayer is held on Sunday evenings during the Sunday evening classes from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Usually people wishing to become Catholic will be baptized (if necessary) celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation and receive their First Holy Communion (if needed) at the Easter Vigil. Matthew Kelly’s Decision Point DVD series
This DVD series is used with the eighth graders in the Sunday evening classes in preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. Those candidates who attend ASA as well as others in the parish can assess the entire series by going to www.dynamiccatholic.com/confirmation It is offered free of charge to all who wish to view the program.
Resources Available in the Kelly Conference Room
Both book and DVD resources are available for you to borrow from the Parish Resource Center located in the Kelly Conference Room. We have many DVDs for you to borrow and take home to view. Included are several copies of the DVD “Jesus of Nazareth,” the “Catholicism” series by Fr. Robert Barron, Fr. Barron’s DVDs on the New Evangelization, and the SYMBOLON DVDs on the the Creed, Episodes 1-10. Various books, such as Robert Barron’s Catholicism, book based upon the Catholicism DVD series. Stop by and pick up a a book or DVD while you are at one of the weekend Masses.
