Programs

Faith Formation Classes for Public School Students are held on
Sunday evenings from 5:30-7PM from September through April. Parents with children in the public school in grades 1-8 should enroll their children in the St. Jude Religious Education (Faith Formation) weekly classes. At the beginning of the school year, parents and children will be provided with a weekly calendar for the duration of classes which begin in September and end the first week of April whenever Spring Break takes place. Parents will receive at the beginning of the school year a Parent Handbook for each grade containing policies and procedures for attendance, tuition, and a calendar for each grade containing what will be taught each week and how parents can assist in the catechetical instruction of their children. A weekly newsletter will be e-mailed to all parents with children in the Sunday program or at ASA. A Parent Page will inform parents what has been taught in the classroom the previous Sunday. To register your child throughout the year contact mboruta@stjudes.net

Preparation for the Sacraments of First Penance (Reconciliation), First Holy Communion, and Confirmation

Parent meetings for First Penance (Reconciliation), First Holy Communion and Confirmation take place during Sunday evening classes for children attending public school as well as those children from St. Jude Parish registered at All Saints Academy (ASA).

Children in grade two have the opportunity to prepare for First Penance and First Holy Communion. Parents will decide if their second grade children are ready for First Penance in grade two. If not, parents can delay reception of First Penance to grade 3 or 4. For more information contact jdeboe@stjudes.net

All eighth graders will become candidates for reception of the sacrament of Confirmation. The Confirmation ceremony is held at the Cathedral of St. Andrew each spring from the months of March-June, depending upon the dates assigned by the Bishop’s office. Candidates will begin their preparation during the summer before entering eighth grade with a summer service project. Eighth graders are expected to write a paper on a saint and to do several service projects during their eighth grade year. A Confirmation retreat is held prior to Confirmation.
